1. The importance of the arts for young people. We know personally how powerful art can be in helping us cope and to process events and things that happen around us. It literally can save lives. The Tile Campaign aims raise awareness about how important the arts are for young people, especially youth who are “on the fringe,” as well as how great it can be for the community. At Art Forms we have all experienced the powerful way art can transform our lives (and a great deal of research also supports this!).
2. Marking spaces for youth to clearly see that we are welcome to enter, shop, eat, or simply be part of the community where your space exists. Sometimes young people are treated poorly simply because they are young. By marking the spaces in their front entrance, we create more youth-friendly places to help young people and involve them in meaningful, cultural activities.
Our goal is to give out 100 stickers and 100 pieces of tile-mosaic art (we're about halfway there!) - so, we campaign on! The Tile Campaign has been funded by the Youth Advisory Council at Hamilton Community Foundation - huge thanks to them for this support!
